Tungsten is used as a neutron absorber material in gray rod controllers due to its high melting point, high sputtering threshold, good thermal and electrical conductivity, low tritium retention, and low thermal expansion coefficient.

 

Produktanwendungen

Tungsten control rod assemblies have a low reactivity value, allowing for relatively small reactivity adjustments in the reactor through mechanical means. This reduces the need to adjust the boron concentration in the reactor coolant using chemical and volumetric control systems. This significantly reduces the daily treatment of reactor wastewater and simplifies the design and operation of chemical and volumetric control systems.
